Ashesi University

Students and researchers at Ashesi University College are developing a robot tour guide for their campus. This project seeks to inspire interest in computer science and engineering, and to study the dynamics surrounding the relationship between humans and robotic agents in the context of an African community.

The Robotics and Agents Research Group at the University of Cape Town has developed a prototype of a small sized Urban Search and Rescue Robot designed to be dropped or thrown into damaged buildings. The robot is designed to be low-cost, so much so that it is considered an expendable tool in the rescue worker’s; arsenal.
